About

I am an Electrical Engineer by training, a Software Engineer by trade, and have a degree for an MBA somewhere in my garage. I have worked for start-ups, fortune five hundred companies, and myself; and chances are if you live in the US, you are using software I developed. I am very passionate about learning and building. Programming is my first language, English my second.

I am currently a stay-at-home dad taking care of my young son. I seriously took up option trading while my son was sleeping in my lap. That gave me plenty of time to read a multitude of books and websites on option trading. When I am not playing peek-a-boo, changing diapers, or taking my daughter swimming, I am learning as much as I can about the option market.

My backtesting tool was a tool I wrote to help me understand and clarify different trades and trade adjustments. It piggy-backs on other code I have developed to aid me in my option trades. And ultimately, I believe it leads me to understand the fundamentals of options better.

  1. “I only have the historical data for the RUT at the moment, and only back 9 years (I discovered errors in the data beyond nine years). Historical Option data is expensive and getting data for all securities is ummm… cost prohibitive for me. I take donations though :)”

Send me your email address and I’ll discuss a potential data donation…

  2. I trade a similar fashion and made over 1mil in 6 months. Then the crash in Aug 2015 and the months that follow have hurt me badly. One of your replies, stated its a spoon for profits and a bucket for loses. I can attest to that! However, bull spreads can be very useful in the right enviroment. I have a couple of question for you privately and perhaps some insight as I have been a trader for 10 years now and run a small HF.
